For 16 days in November and December, we are encouraging change to stop violence against women. This year’s theme is Stopping Family and Domestic Violence: Play your part.
The annual 16 Days in WA — Stop Violence Against Women campaign started on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and concludes on 10 December, Human Rights Day.
In its eighth year, 16 Days in WA draws inspiration from the global movement for 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence to drive a change in culture, behaviour and attitudes that lead to violence against women and their children.
Throughout 16 Days in WA, events and workshops will be held across Western Australia for the community to take part in, encouraging change to stop violence against women.
As a way to play our part in the global movement to end gender-based violence, the Office of Multicultural Interests is supporting an event at the Muslim Women’s Support Centre of WA.
Through discussions and an interactive art activity, the Centre will be exploring this year’s themes on Thursday, 28 November from 9.30am – 12.30pm at Hillview Intercultural Centre, 1-3 Hillview Place in Bentley. The event is free but registration is essential through the Centre on (08) 9451 5696 or
info@mwsc.com.au. Light refreshments and childcare provided.
