The Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI), the Australian Institute of Translators and Interpreters (AUSIT) and the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) have partnered to provide scholarships for practising interpreters for some in-demand languages to undertake the 'Interpreting Skills for NAATI Certification' online course delivered by TAFE South Australia (TAFESA).

The in-demand languages for the February 2020 scholarships have been identified as follows:

  • African languages/dialects: Amharic, Anuak, Ewe, Kirundi, Kiswahili, Lingala, Oromo, Sudanese Arabic, Tigrinya
  • Asian Languages/dialects: Arabic, Burmese, Chin, Karen, Pashto, Tamil, Vietnamese
