Western Australians join billions of people all over the world in celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year, which in 2025 starts on 29 January and ends on 12 February.

Celebrations will be happening across the State to mark the auspicious start of the Year of the Snake, which is thought to be a time of renewal, growth and transformation.

The annual Perth Chinese New Year Fair, hosted by the Chung Wah Association, will be taking place on Sunday 2 February 2025 in Northbridge and Yagan Square. It will consist of a dazzling array of cultural performances, including the always anticipated lion and dragon dance, arts and crafts and food stalls.

Lunar New Year is celebrated in countries throughout Asia, including China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Singapore and many more.
